Consultant or by a handyman? Sad to say, there really are
no standards in the remodeling industry for designers--most are
handymen or just people who learned to use design software.
At MyHome, we believe everything starts with design - and to get it right we make sure we hire the right people. We recruit and train full-time Remodeling Consultants on a quarterly basis. Less than 4% of the applicants actually pass our stringent interview process. Those selected undertake a rigorous 80-hour classroom and field training program. After a 3-month assessment period they must pass a theoretical and practical exam demonstrating expertise in design concepts and our customized design software. Weekly training continues even after a Remodeling Consultant is certified. You see, we want to make sure when you sit down with us, you feel completely comfortable letting us help you design the room or home of your dreams.
After one of our Certified Remodeling Consultants creates design possibilities with you, they help you choose materials and products from one of our two convenient NYC showrooms. Once your materials are selected, one of our employees, whose chief responsibility it is to make sure all products are ordered properly and tracked so they are received when expected, oversees your materials order. You are also assigned a personal Project Manager who supervises every aspect of the construction of your project, making sure that materials are delivered on time, the trades' people perform to expectations, and the job is completed on time, with excellent workmanship and within budget. Once your project is completed, a touch-up crew will see to it that all finishing touches are done to your satisfaction.
You see, by breaking down your project into various parts, assigned to our different professionals, we're able to have individuals who've mastered their specific tasks do what they do best. We don't have one person doing all of the design, layout, ordering and building or supervising. Quite frankly, we don't know how anyone can do that efficiently and with high quality.
